Welcome to Peer Connect. This application is an independent academic pilot designed to facilitate peer-to-peer networking within the Bard College community. This Privacy Policy explains how your information is collected, used, and protected during the active duration of this project.

1. Information We Collect

To provide you with networking capabilities, we collect the following types of information:

• Authentication Data: When you log in via Google OAuth, we securely receive your basic profile identifiers, specifically your Name and Email address.
• Voluntary Profile Data: We collect the academic and networking information you choose to self-report, such as your Academic Major and Graduation Year.

2. How We Use Your Information

Your data is used strictly to power the core functionality of Peer Connect. Specifically, it is used to populate your user profile and allow other authenticated peers within the localized campus community to connect with you.

3. Data Sharing and Third Parties

Your privacy is paramount. We do not sell, trade, or share your personal data with third-party ad networks, data brokers, or marketing firms.

Your data is only processed by the strictly necessary managed cloud infrastructure providers that host this application (such as Netlify for frontend hosting and Supabase for secure backend database management).

4. Data Retention and Deletion

Your data is retained only for as long as it is necessary to fulfill the networking purposes outlined in this policy. Upon the formal conclusion of this academic pilot, all database records and associated user profiles will be securely and permanently purged.

5. Your Data Rights

You maintain full control over your personal information. At any time, you have the right to:

• Review the information associated with your account.
• Update or correct your self-reported profile details directly within the application's interface.
• Request the immediate deletion of your account and all associated data.
